THE PHOTOGRAPHIC EXPERIENCE

Each session lasts between 30 minutes and 3 hours, allowing ample time for the client to relax and enjoy the experience. Choosing a time of day that is best for children is recommended – preferably first thing in the morning or after naptime. Feel free to bring along a snack and special toys for your child to enjoy. If you or your child are unable to attend the session due to illness, please call to reschedule. As much notice as possible is preferred so that someone else may take the open time slot.

CLOTHING RECOMMENDATIONS

Children – Newborns are usually photographed in the nude, however I am more than happy to photograph your child fully dressed if you prefer. Young children may wear jeans or sundresses, and bare feet are quite natural. Clothing choices should be simple with understated patterns so as not to detract from the person. Solid colors are preferred. Please feel free to bring several outfits and personal items for props. Hats, a favorite instrument, a beloved teddy or blanket are wonderful additions to the personalized photographic experience.

Families – It is recommended to color-coordinate your clothing choices and to not wear perfectly matched outfits. Suggested color schemes that work well together are black, red and white; or navy, gray and burgundy; or taupe, green and red. Feel free to call for other suggestions.

Maternity – Mom-to-be will be photographed in a variety of poses, including partial-nudity. Clothing that buttons down is preferred. Father and children are also welcome to participate in the photographic experience.

Business Executives – Gentlemen are requested to wear a dress shirt, tie and sport jacket. Women are requested to wear a coordinated suit and understated, classic jewelry. Please feel free to bring a few changes in clothing.

Hair and Make-up – Simple hairstyles and make-up are recommended. If you are able to, you may wish to employ the services of a make-up artist and hairstylist prior to your photo session. Please bring your make-up products and hair tools along for minor touch-ups.

RESERVE YOUR SESSION

All sessions are by appointment only. Contact me by email or by phoning 315-699-6796 to reserve your photo session. A non-refundable retainer of $200.00 is required at time of booking to secure your date. The retainer will first be applied to your session fee and the balance will be applied toward your collection order.  Payment methods accepted are cash, personal check, money order, cashiers check or PayPal.  Credit cards are also accepted only through PayPal.

REVIEWING PROOFS

Within 3 days of your photo session, your proofs will be ready. At the time of your session, you will be asked whether you prefer to view your proofs online or take them home on a disc. If you prefer an online gallery, I will post your portrait proofs in a private display area for you to review for up to 7 days. You may share the log-in and password with family who may also be interested in ordering prints from your session. If you would prefer a disc, there is a $25 fee for the disc which you may keep, but the photos on the disc are low-resolution and will be watermarked (not suitable for printing).  High-resolution DVDs with copyright release are also available starting at $100 per image with purchase of any collection.

Approximately one week after your session, we will meet again at the studio to put together your order. Please plan to spend about 1 hour at this meeting.

Due to the custom nature of the order, a deposit of 50% is required at the time the order is placed and the remainder is due within 3 days of the order being placed. Prints will be available for pick-up within 7 to 10 days of the order being placed.

All ordered portraits are retained on disc for one year. Unordered proofs are immediately purged. Prices are subject to change without prior notice, but will be honored at the time of booking. If you do not wish to order at the time of your portrait session, a reposting fee of $200 will be charged which will be applied directly towards your portrait order. If you then choose not to order portraits, only $50 of the reposting fee will be refunded and I will retain the other $150 for my time spent.

ARTISTIC EFFECTS

I use a high quality digital SLR camera. Every image is captured in color, however the final prints can be ordered in a variety of artistic effects and color conversions such as black and white, sepia, light desaturation, color isolation, and vignette. Portraits come in a luster-coated finish. If these types of effects interest you, please refer to the Artistic Price Sheet for further information.

PORTRAIT RETOUCHING

Touch ups can be done to remove blemishes, scars, stretch marks, wrinkles or general unwanted lines seen around the eyes, mouth, neck etc. They will not be done on the proofs, although a sample may be done just to give you an idea of what to expect.. Rates will be based on the specific requirements. Light touch ups are automatically included at no additional charge. For more extensive service, the rate starts at a one time fee of $25 per image ($5 extra per person if a group portrait).

COPYRIGHT POLICY

All images and previews are under copyright protection. They may not be downloaded, copied, printed or scanned for electronic use or be reproduced in any manner without my express written consent by way of a Copyright Release. The low resolution images that you purchase on a proof disc may not be copied, printed, scanned for electronic use or reproduced in any manner by yourself or any other party withoutmy express written consent by way of a Copyright Release. Usage Licenses and/or High Resolution files may be purchased for a separate fee. Please contact me if you are interested in this option. Please be sure you understand the copyright information presented to you. Failure to comply will result in legal fines.

CANCELLATION POLICY

Please provide at least 24 hours notice of cancellation and I will be more than happy to apply your retainer to another date and time. Less than 24 hours notice will result in the loss of your retainer as there could have been another session reserved during that time slot. I do realize that occasionally there will be things that unexpectedly occur, such as a death in the family. Please give me as much notice as possible so that I can try to find another client to take your session date.
